  • Things Have a Way of Coming Back Again!

It's funny how some things have a way of coming back again. When I was in high school I played the guitar and was in a rock and roll band.

Every place I went there was a guitar strapped to my back! As the years went by I continued to play the guitar but less frequently. Eventually I hardly ever picked it up and went several years without playing at all!

Then one day at church, about two years ago, someone came up to me and said, " I heard you play the guitar, how about doing a song together for Sunday Service?"(I don't know who told him I played guitar, but I am thankful to that person!)

Now I am once again playing in a band. It's not a rock and roll band, it's a church Praise Band but I am having a ball! We practice every week and play every Monday night at a special church service. We also play frequently on Sundays at church and sometimes at a retirement home.

I also play a mountain dulcimer and harmonica in the band. The music never left me, it just needed to be awakened again!

We play your standard hymns and some contemporary Christian music as well as original tunes. We work in a lot of old rock and roll songs but change the lyrics around for the church crowd.

For example, we play Amazing Grace to the tune of the House of the Rising Sun. We also play Proud Mary but with new Christian lyrics.

My fingers used to cramp up from artheritis frequently; however, since I have been playing the guitar again they hardly ever bother me anymore!

Sorry...I didn't mean to ramble on and on about this, just thought I would share this with you.

Just to give you an idea, here are some numbers. I started the website in Jan. 2004. There have been an average of $100 per year donations so far. Ads on website and in newsletter have brought in $25 per year.

    Here are the expenses involved..

Web hosting fees, domain name, newsletter opt-in list and message board comes to $400.00 per year alone. That's not counting software updates, computer hardware maintenance and time spent working on the website and newsletter. You do the math...the expenses are much more than the income. Please help! A special thanks goes out to all of you who have made donations, it's really appreciated.

Believe it or not a gallon of regular gas cost ONLY 33 cents back in 1967! A first class postage stamp was a nickel and you could buy a new house for just $24,600!

Times sure have changed! It's much more expensive to live now-a-days. By the time you put gas in your car, go to the grocery store and stop by the pharmacy to pick up all the medicine you have to take...there's not much left of your paycheck!

I'm not complaining...just stating the facts. Hey, I'm happy that I am still able to work and have made it to 58 years old. Most of my family died around the age of 50.

Every day that I wake up is a good day! I count my blessings and thank God for everything.
