I have to tell you what's been going on here... I'm not
looking for sympathy, I just want to share my story.
On August 31st, the company I worked for the past
8 years had a nationwide layoff and I have found
myself unemployed. When I got home from work that
day there was a letter in the mailbox from the NC
Dept. of Motor Vehicles informing me that they are
pulling my driver's license due to my poor vision!
Now I am not only without a job but I can't get to a
job even if I had one! August 31st wasn't a very good
day.
Sept. 30th my wife comes home and tells me that she
was laid off from work today. Now neither one of us
has a job...isn't that just special?
It's a sign of the
times. Things are rough all over, companies are
cutting back and when a person leaves they are not
being replaced...they just get someone else at the
company to assume the workload.
Of course now that we are not working we also have
no medical insurance (not a very good thing since we
both take lots of prescriptions).
Luckily, I was in the Navy and can get treatment and
prescriptions at the Veterans Hospital but that doesn't
help my wife since she was not in the service.
I have been designing websites on the side and have
a couple of dozen clients so I am trying to turn that into
a full time enterprise. So if you know anyone that
needs a website, please send them my way.
www.webdesign4him.com.
I am also open to any other legitimate work at home
ideas you may know about since that appears to be
my only option now that I can't drive.
