| Christmas Tree Trauma |
 |
|
I just have to share
this story with you. This
weekend, my wife and I were putting up our
Christmas tree and it turned into a real adventure!
Here is what happened. First of all, the tree had been
sitting on our patio for a few days so the branches
would drop a little before we brought it in the house
to set it up. Previously, I had strung up lights around
our roof and in order to turn them on I had to
unscrew the porch light to plug in the Christmas
lights; therefore, our patio was dark!
The night before, because it was so dark on the
patio, my wife tripped and fell and she hit the stone
patio pretty hard hurting her back and chest.
To help throw some light on our project Christine
turned on her car headlights so we could see to get
the tree into the house. Somehow we managed to
carry the very heavy tree inside and set it up, but it
kept tipping over because the trunk was crooked!
Christine was having trouble lifting because of her
injury from the fall so I tried to pick the tree up all by
myself and I heard a terrible snapping sound and felt
my rib crack! Now we were both out of commission
and the tree was lying on the living room floor!
I’ve had broken ribs before and was not looking
forward to that pain again! Fortunately, I don’t think
I broke anything this time but I did some kind of
damage and I am having a lot of trouble moving! This
entire tree trauma took us about an hour and it was
getting late, so we decided to go out and grab
something to eat.
OOPS...we forgot to turn the headlights off and now
the car battery is dead and I don’t have any jumper
cables! Good thing we have two vehicles. We went
out to eat and bought a pair of jumper cables and
just left the tree lying on the floor. Eventually, our
16-year-old granddaughter stopped by for a visit and
she helped us get the tree straightened out and all is
well. Christine and I are moving kind of slowly from
our bruises but we will survive! Who would have
thought that just putting up the Christmas tree would
turn into such an episode?
Christine and I want to wish each and everyone of
you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Blessed
New Year!

| Happy 104th Birthday |
 |
|
I attended Morris Street School from grades 1-6 and
then Millridge for grades 7-8, so this picture doesn't
ring any bells with me. However, I received the
following e-mail from Shiela Bartram Hislop. So if any
of you went to Main Street School and remember
Mrs. Edgett, send Sheila an e-mail.
I've attached a scanned picture
from the Danbury
News, and
I'm wondering if anyone (other than me) remembers
Mrs. Edgett. She taught Science when I was in Main
St. School, before

| Who Was Your Favorite Teacher? |
 |
|
The previous article got me to thinking about some of
the teachers I had in school and I thought it would
be great to hear from everyone about who their
favorite teacher was in High School and why.
This would also make a great addition to our website,
so take a few minutes and send me an e-mail all
about your favorite teacher.
My favorite High School teacher was Miss Buzaid. She
was my Spanish teacher. The thing I liked most about
her was that she was all about Spanish! We weren't
allowed to speak English in class or even if we passed
her in the hall we had to say "hola" not "hello". I must
have learned something from her because I was in
the Spanish Honor Club and I still can speak Spanish
after all of these years!
Miss Buzaid really new how to make Spanish fun and I
enjoyed her class. We went on a field trip once to
New York City to visit the United Nations (again, no
English allowed) it was an awesome trip! Thanks
Miss Buzaid for being such a GREAT teacher!
