WHO THE HECK IS MIKE MARINARO ANYWAY?
Here's a little information about me in case you were wondering who the heck I am.
I was born in Danbury, Ct. and we moved to New Fairfield, Ct. when I was 13. I lived in Ball Pond, New Fairfield and we somehow developed the reputation in High School of being called the 2%. I guess that's because 2% of the school came from New Fairfield or Ball Pond (not sure which). It seems like whenever something went wrong at school the 2% was blamed. Now I will admit the kids in Ball Pond were "Hoods" and we did get into a little trouble now and then!
I managed to live a split personality life during my teenage years. At home I was a "Hood" but in school I took all college courses and managed to graduate in the top 1/4 of our class. I did not take shop or auto class and instead took typing, shorthand and Spanish. I was even in the Spanish Honor Club. I combed my hair like a "rah rah" during the day and a "hood" at night...guess I was a little confused?
After High School I went to Norwalk State Technical College for a few semesters until I figured out that I was only there because my parents wanted me to go to college. I quit school, went downtown and joined the Navy (That was back in the day of the draft, I didn't want to get drafted and go to Vietnam) then I went home and told my parents what I had done! Well, I ended up going to Vietnam anyway; however, I was on an aircraft carrier in The Gulf of Tonkin. I served three tours of duty there and got to see many exotic places around the world in my travels with the Navy.
Now I live in North Carolina just outside of Raleigh, and I work at a group of radio stations. I am Assistant to the General Manager and I also assist the National Sales Manager. The best part of my job is I get to design and maintain our websites for the stations and I also get to write and publish our company's monthly employee newsletter. The bad part of the job is it takes me an hour to commute to work and an hour back home again!
I am happily married and we have four children and six grandchildren. We are active in our church and we enjoy going to movies, eating out, and dancing. I like to write and have had a few stories published in magazines and books. I am working on writing a novel. I also have a small business from my home www.webdesign4him.com where I design websites.
I am rambling on...so I will cut this short; hopefully you know a little more about me now. You can visit www.mmarinaro.com to learn more if you have nothing better to do.
I hope to see a GREAT turnout at our 40th Reunion.
