I was always a newspaper nut, and in fact while I was in high school, I not only worked on our school newspaper, I was contributing occasional items to the Danbury News-Times. After college, I worked briefly in public relations for a NYC company that had moved to Danbury, and then jumped aboard the Bridgeport Post, now the Connecticut Post, where I spent six years as an editor and feature writer. During those years and for years after, I worked part time for both the Waterbury Republican and New Haven Register. I then spent almost 20 years working as an editor and feature writer for various trade and business magazines, mostly in New York, and at one time created and ran my own magazine for one of my employers. I eventually left that world behind, although I continue to write occasional freelance articles and got to see every part of the U.S. and most of Canada along the way. I returned to newspapers in 1999, specifically the New Haven Register, and have been there ever since. I married my high school sweetheart, a fellow '67 graduate, Virginia Newton, who has been a geriatrics nurse for many years, and we have three grown daughters, the oldest a scientist who works for the government, the middle one a college junior and the youngest a freshly minted high school graduate. My wife and I attended our 20th high school reunion and had an absolute ball. I probably knew about three quarters of the Class of 1967, and my wife -- a somewhat shy individual back in high school -- was pleasantly surprised to find herself recognized and fondly remembered by a number of those who attended the 20th reunion. Both of us are in failing health these days, but we keep on kicking and we hope to see everyone at our 40th reunion, God willing. Charles "Tom" Veilleux
